Sorenson Impact Fellowships
Empowering future leaders of positive impact.
Sorenson Impact provides an unparalleled opportunity for students interested in finance for social good, data science, policy innovation, and international impact. From the start, students work on current deals involving firms, funds, governments, and nonprofits from different sectors and regions around the world.
Our Sorenson Fellows come from local schools, including University of Utah, Brigham Young University, Westminster College, Utah State, and many others. We recruit during the fall, spring, and summer semesters, ideally seeking students interested in working for the remainder of their college careers.
Sorenson Fellows hail from various majors, backgrounds, and levels of study.

Four tracks, one mission:
finance for social good
Sorenson Impact's unique and comprehensive student fellowship program provides access to an unparalleled learning opportunity. Real-world experience in social entrepreneurship and investing is difficult to create in a classroom setting. Sorenson Impact solves this problem by creating a means for Sorenson Fellows to learn valuable skills and interact with industry leaders on a daily basis.
Here, Sorenson Fellows receive Wall Street-style training and collaborate with leading social venture funds, banks, foundations, consulting firms and social entrepreneurs to identify, fund, and grow businesses that have a social impact.
Sorenson Impact provides Sorenson Fellows interested in policy the opportunity to work on a variety of government and nonprofit consulting projects. Our fellows receive exposure to the most innovative tools being used to address social issues today, including Pay for Success projects, place-based initiatives, data-driven decision making and performance-based contracting. Issue areas addressed include homelessness, criminal recidivism, public health, early childhood education, and more.
Our data science team collaborates across the Center, working with both investing and policy experts. Data science Sorenson Fellows work alongside data scientists to provide customized data diagnostics for clients, write code, learn best practices around data sharing and security, as well as create data visualizations and dashboards.
Sorenson Impact works to catalyze social impact globally, providing Sorenson Fellows with unique opportunities to explore new cultures, research international markets, and study global social issues. Currently, students are working to incubate social enterprises in Eastern Europe and have been afforded the chance to travel abroad to execute due diligence.
Students also have an option to work with the University Venture Fund II, which will invest in companies that are seeking positive social and financial performance. UVF II’s network will provide best-in-class deal flow of impact investments for the Fund. It builds on the learnings from the original University Venture Fund to provide an unparalleled experiential education for students interested in impact investing, while providing professional governance and investment rigor that sophisticated investors require.
