Annie is a PhD candidate in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Utah. Her graduate research is focused on understanding the role of heparan sulphate proteoglycans in the neuronal propagation of amyloid aggregates observed in neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s. She received her B.Eng. in Biotechnology from Birla Institute of Technology, India, where she volunteered with the rural communities to help teach English and basic computer literacy.
Annie is interested in the business side of science and technology, and in leveraging them to cause positive social impact. That’s why she joined the Sorenson Impact Center as an Impact Investing Student Fellow during the summer of 2018. She performs due diligence on potential investments in early stage ventures, with a special focus on deals in the medtech, biotech and greentech industries.
In her free time, you can find her traveling, hiking or camping, volunteering at Best Friends Animal Society, painting, reading, cooking or just relaxing at home.
