Elena Ma

Sorenson Fellow, Impact Investing



Elena Ma is a PhD candidate in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Utah and her dissertation research is focused on the rational design of fluorescent probes and high throughput screening of inhibitors for protein tyrosine phosphatases that are disease relevant. Elena has always been interested in translating benchtop research into commercial products. To gain more understanding on the business side of science, she joined the Sorenson Impact Center as an Impact Investing Student Fellow during the summer of 2017, where she performs due diligence on potential investments with a special focus on technology and health science related deals. In her spare time, Elena likes traveling, watching movies, snowboarding, and water color painting.
