Managing Director—Data, Policy, & Innovation
Janis is a Managing Director in Data, Policy and Performance Innovation at Sorenson Impact. She leads the Center’s Pay for Success transaction structuring projects and is involved in a variety of innovative financing projects. In addition, she works with governments, nonprofits and foundations on impact measurement and to advance evidence-based practices and policymaking at the local, state and federal level. She is also currently on a part-time assignment to the Health Resource and Services Administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services consulting on the Pay for Outcomes authority under the Maternal, Infant, Early Childhood Home Visiting program.
Prior to joining the Center in 2015, Janis was the Director of Early Education Policy with Voices for Utah Children secured public funding for early childhood education and home visiting for the states vulnerable children and families and developed the first early childhood Pay for Success project in the country. In 2015, Janis was on a leave of absence from the Center on detail to the U.S. Department of Education as a Pay for Success Fellow and led the Department’s Pay for Success Initiative under the Obama Administration
Janis is a former investment banker with 15 years of experience on Wall Street structuring innovative financial transactions. She has a BA from Yale College in economics and political science and an MBA in finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
