Last week, 13 of our Impact Fellows at the Sorenson Impact Center graduated with a total of 14 degrees, including one PhD, five Masters degrees, and eight Bachelor’s degrees.

Sherry Roy, who graduated with her MS in Finance and participated in our Impact Investing track, is just one of our exceptional Class of '18 Impact Fellows. At her graduation, she was presented with the Outstanding Business Graduate Award — a distinguished honor that recognizes the top graduate students in the MSF program for their academic achievement and program involvement.

And just last month, Sherry, along with three teammates, Brandon MontenegroHannah Butcher, and Karan Nanda, presented at the 8th Annual Kellogg Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Challenge, which took place in London. Their project explored how Masala Bonds can be used as a vehicle to create a Wage Credit Backed Security by providing access to daily wage credit at favorable rates to casual workers in India. Sherry’s team was one of 12 selected finalists from over 100 teams globally to present their idea, the details of which can be found here.

Sherry plans on staying involved in the impact investing space. “My first exposure to the impacting investing world was through the Sorenson Impact Center,” she said. “The experience [here] helped me look at finance beyond the ‘big institutions’ world and see it as a means to solve social problems and affect change in people’s lives.”
