Billy Powers is a Senior Policy Associate at Sorenson Impact. Along with supporting four current PFS feasibility studies covering different subject areas, Billy specializes in Early Childhood Education and supports many of Sorenson’s efforts in that area.
He came the Center by way of Westminster Public Schools in Colorado, where he was a Sorenson Impact Center PFS Innovation Fellow under the supervision of the WPS Director of Early Childhood Education. At Westminster Public Schools, Billy was responsible for conducting a feasibility study to examine the potential for expanding preschool access using PFS financing. Billy is currently working with the core planning team at Westminster Public Schools to structure a PFS preschool pilot using a high-quality early childhood education intervention. Billy was also a Teach For America corps member, where he taught preschool on the South Side of Chicago in Illinois.
Billy received his Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in Massachusetts. While teaching, Billy received his Masters of Science in Education from Dominican University in Illinois. He received his Bachelor’s in Political Science from Davidson College in North Carolina.
